In a series of events that could have had a tragic outcome, a 70-year-old man was arrested on September 11, 2025, for driving in the wrong direction on the A7 motorway near Langenau.

The incident, which took place at around 23:40, began when the man entered the motorway from the St. Jakob rest area in the wrong direction. He proceeded to drive on the two-lane carriageway on the left-hand overtaking lane, causing concern among other motorists.

At the Lonetal Ost service station, the man continued driving in the wrong direction before re-entering the motorway at 00:02. Fortunately, the police were able to intervene and stop the wrong-way driver before an accident occurred.

The Public Prosecutor's Office in Ulm has taken charge of the investigation, and a warrant for the suspect's arrest was issued on suspicion of attempted manslaughter. The suspect, his vehicle, and his driver's license have all been seized by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
