The operation began on July 5th, when traffic control by Cologne Police led to the stop of a gray car at the intersection of Frankfurter Straße / Montanusstraße. The driver was found to be carrying LSD, cocaine, and several hundred euros in cash during the control, while the vehicle contained cannabis.
The driver initially provided false information about his residence, but investigations led to his actual place of residence in Hürth. A court-ordered search warrant was executed on the same day with the support of a customs service dog at the driver's residence, where a PTB weapon with a magazine and brass knuckles were discovered, along with large amounts of cash, jewelry, and gold.

Further search warrants for two additional apartments in the family environment led to further finds, including narcotics in significant amounts (including MDMA, cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms) and multiple mobile phones. During a search in the driver's underwear, another thousand euros in cash were discovered, and another thousand euros were found in the driver's trouser pocket.
During a court-ordered search of the 35-year-old passenger's apartment on Wilhelmstraße, small amounts of ketamine and ecstasy were found. Several family members resisted during the measures, resulting in additional criminal charges being filed.
