Under the Rule of Tinubu in Nigeria, Civilian Dictatorship is Allegedly Prevalent - Dele Momoduvoices Concerns

Veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu has raised concerns about the current political climate in Nigeria, suggesting that the country may be practicing a form of civilian dictatorship under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

In a recent post via X on Sunday, Momodu argued that political opponents and leaders should embrace constructive criticism. He claimed that he is decent and civil enough to avoid using uncouth and blistering words in his criticism of Tinubu, but expressed dismay at the sudden switch in support for Tinubu by some individuals who he believes have forgotten the level they descended to in their criticism.

Momodu maintained that the 2027 election will be a battle of the regions, with the South supporting a candidate from the region. However, he also warned that nobody, including President Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, can win the 2027 election solely based on popularity.

The culture of silencing opposing voices, according to Momodu, is dangerous for democracy. He asserted that constructive criticism is not only meant for political opponents but for all leaders. Momodu also asserted that the North can no longer be persuaded or blackmailed into helping the South after the treatment it received following the last election.

Momodu did not mention any specific candidate as a potential contender for the 2027 election. He also did not express any direct support for or against any political party or candidate in his post. Dele Momodu does not appear to be explicitly affiliated with any political party at the time of reporting.

Momodu's post via X on Sunday was reported by our website, a division of Polance Media Inc. It is clear that Momodu's concerns about the current political climate in Nigeria are shared by many, and his call for constructive criticism and a more democratic approach to politics is a welcome voice in these challenging times.
