Uncovered: Two Telephone Scam Arrests and a Burglary in a Private Residence, Alongside the Discovery of a Swastika Symbol at a Playground
A series of incidents have been reported across Westhessen, with the Police Headquarters in Wiesbaden leading investigations.
On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, unknown persons defaced a playground in Neu-Anspach with swastika graffiti. The perpetrators sprayed several pieces of playground equipment and a fence with black paint, leaving four swastikas as their mark. The graffiti was found on the grounds in Breslauer Straße.
The public is being appealed to for information regarding this act. Anyone with relevant information is asked to contact the Usingen police station under the telephone number (06081) 9208-0.
In a separate incident, two telephone scams were foiled by the police in Oberursel on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. The calls, claiming to be from police, stated that a family member had caused a serious traffic accident and a bail was due.
In one case, the called lady hung up accidentally, allowing the police to clarify the fraud. In the second case, the called person recognized the scam and contacted the police.
On the same day, a burglary occurred in a single-family house in Kronberg, Friedrichstraße, between 4:45 PM and 7:35 PM. The burglars forced open a window and stole various pieces of jewelry. The Criminal Police are investigating the incident.
In a related development, a 22-year-old from Berlin was arrested in connection with one of the sponsored phone fraud cases. The investigations relate to offenses such as fraudulent activities involving fake language certificates and illegal citizenship processes. The man is being investigated for phone fraud (Telefonbetrug).
