Heilbronn Customs Office Uncovers Untaxed Vapes in Stuttgart Region

In a recent operation, enforcement officers from the Heilbronn Main Customs Office discovered a significant number of untaxed vapes in a tobacco shop in Untertürkheim, a city within the Stuttgart region.

The untaxed vapes, which exceeded the permitted filling volume according to tobacco tax regulations, contained more than 2 ml. This violation led to a tax evasion investigation being initiated against the business owner on the spot.

The 30-year-old owner of the tobacco shop was found to have untaxed vapes hidden in a drawer behind the counter and in a storage room. In addition to these illicit vapes, properly taxed vapes of various brands were also found on display for sale in the shop.

The discovery of these unauthorized e-cigarettes does not appear in the provided search results, so the responsible authority or person is not specified. However, it is known that the Heilbronn Main Customs Office is responsible for enforcing the proper taxation of excise goods, including alcohol, tobacco products, and vapes, in the cities and districts of Heilbronn and Ludwigsburg, Hohenlohekreis, Main-Tauber-Kreis, and Landkreis Schwäbisch Hall.

It is important to note that by selling untaxed vapes, the business owner not only incurs tobacco tax but also faces potential criminal and administrative penalties. The business owner also faces the obligation to pay back the tobacco tax.

As of January 1, 2024, the Traffic Routes Control Unit will be responsible for inspections in the Rems-Murr district, the district of Böblingen, the northern part of the district of Esslingen, and the city of Stuttgart.
