In the digital world, having ample storage space is essential for many businesses and individuals. However, for one user, this seemingly basic requirement has become a challenge when dealing with Ionos, a popular web hosting service.

The user, who is managing a relatively large database of 2 GB, has encountered a problem at Ionos. Despite having a terabyte of storage space, Ionos deems the file count as a problem, and storing 200,000 images is not possible, according to their policies. This limitation, set at 268,000 files, remains in place regardless of the storage capacity.

The user's predicament doesn't end there. Deleting old data from the database does not reduce its size, and the user faces the same issue even after moving to a short-term "performance database" from Ionos, which comes with a limit of 12,000 files.

The user's website, www.unsure-website.de, has been experiencing issues, prompting concern for Ionos's support. The site is currently offline, adding to the user's woes. The issue might be with the 268,000 files, as 256,000 are already occupied.

Ionos has suggested renting a server, which comes bare and without a system, as a potential solution. However, this requires self-monitoring and hiring an administrator, which is an additional burden for the user, who is already working on setting up a new server. Despite taking measures, progress with Ionos seems to be at a standstill.

This limitation, often imposed by companies like cPanel, is a problem for website operators because exceeding the limit can cause server performance issues and prevent additional files from being stored, restricting website growth and functionality. Other providers do not have such limitations, only physical ones.

Faced with these challenges, the user is considering a provider change. The rigid limits, despite being invented, are a significant hurdle in managing digital data effectively and efficiently. For many users, the rented server from Ionos is likened to a suit of armor for digital data, offering protection but with its own set of limitations.
