Unanimous approval granted by the European Parliament for the suggested plan.
In the heart of Münster, history was made on 2nd September 2025 as PiL Christian II, Christian Gruënefeld, was elected as the new Narro-in-chief. The official election by the Prince's Guard, traditionally held in the tiled room of the cathedral, took place later this year due to organisational reasons.
Gruënefeld, who will also represent the carnival in Münster, gave a speech expressing his anticipation to hold the office and promote the carnival tradition. He was accompanied step by step through the coming session by Simon Slobbe and Dr. Jens Tomas.
The 27 Prince's Guard cast their votes in an orderly and unanimous manner during the election. Marius Wichtrup, who was admitted to the Support Association of the Prince's Guard, will act as Adjutant to the future Narro-in-chief. Wichtrup was accompanied by three members of the support association of the Prinzenwache, Jürgen Reuther, Rolf Väth, and Hermann Keller, throughout the upcoming session.
Gruënefeld's political career in Münster extends beyond his new role as Narro-in-chief. He has been president of a shooting club for 18 years, senator president of the Wiedertäufer for 5 years, and president of the 'Carnevalsclub Hiltrup' for 1 year.
Jasmin Otman, the Editor at ALLES MÜNSTER, recently moved to Münster from Moenchengladbach. Otman expressed her enjoyment of the variety of gastronomy, culture, and nature in Münster. The city also welcomed a new Prince of the City as Otman joined the festivities to celebrate Gruënefeld's election.
The election of the new Narro-in-chief was marked by a unique spectacle. At the European Hall in the Mövenpick Hotel, yellow-red-white smoke rose around 18:15, signifying the election of the next Prince of the City of Münster.
In other news, the 20th edition of "Promikellner" for the benefit of the Cancer Counseling Münster will take place on 7th September 2025, featuring many actors from the TV series "Wilsberg". A musical mix thrilled the audience at "Münster Mittendrin" on the Domplatz on 17th August 2025.
As the city of Münster continues to thrive, its citizens eagerly await the upcoming carnival season under the leadership of PiL Christian II.
