Russian President Vladimir Putin is currently in the People's Republic of China for a multi-day visit, but the focus remains on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Last night, the Ukrainian military intercepted 126 out of 142 Russian drones, with impacts or crashes at 16 locations. Unfortunately, one civilian loss of life and at least 30 injuries were reported in Zaporizhzhia due to these attacks. Reports of one injured person and damage to infrastructure and buildings also come from the Odessa region, following a Russian drone attack that left more than 29,000 people without power.

The British "Telegraph" reports that the US could support a European engagement, using private US military firms to build Ukrainian defense positions, secure military bases, and protect companies involved in natural resource extraction. The private U.S. military companies considered for contributing to Ukraine's security in the event of peace or a lasting ceasefire include American private military contractors, whose use has been discussed by U.S. political figures such as Donald Trump, who reportedly considered deploying such companies as part of his peace plan; however, details on specific companies involved have not been explicitly named in the search results.

Gerasimov, the Russian Chief of Staff, announced that the General Staff would determine the targets of Russian troops for the fall over the weekend, claiming the strategic initiative is fully in the hands of the Russian armed forces. The Russian Ministry of Defense announced a continuation of extensive air attacks against Ukraine, targeting military facilities and the defense industry, but in reality, Russia frequently fires at civilian targets and residential areas.

These developments highlight the complex and ongoing nature of the Ukraine-Russia conflict, with both sides continuing to exert pressure and seek advantages on the battlefield and in diplomatic circles.
