U.S. urged to reconsider prohibition of Palestinian authorities participating in United Nations assembly meetings
In a joint statement made in Copenhagen on Saturday, the European Union's foreign ministers urged the United States to reconsider its decision not to allow Palestinian officials, including President Mahmoud Abbas, to participate in the UN General Assembly in New York.

In a separate development, Kaja Kallas also requested EU governments to submit proposals for another package of sanctions against Russia next week. The sanctions are intended as a response to Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine and are a continuation of the EU's efforts to hold Russia accountable for its actions.
The sanctions will be additional to any previously imposed by the EU against Russia and are expected to be proposed next week. The EU foreign policy chief made this statement in the context of the ongoing discussions about the situation in Ukraine.

The EU's call for reconsideration comes at a crucial time, as the international community grapples with the complexities of the Middle East conflict and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine. The EU remains committed to promoting peace, justice, and respect for international law in all its dealings.
