Security Expert Warns: 'The Americans Are on Their Way Out' - U.S. diplomacy with Russia faces sharp criticism from European experts

Experts have raised concerns over the U.S. approach to Russia, calling recent diplomatic efforts ineffective and poorly coordinated. Political scientist Christian Mölling criticised Washington for naivety, while Central European specialist Gerhard Mangott questioned Russia’s willingness to engage in meaningful negotiations. The warnings come after a series of high-level talks failed to produce progress.

Mölling argued that the U.S. had acted more as a mediator than a committed ally in drafting its 28-point plan—without consulting European partners. He described the strategy as flawed, particularly Trump’s attempt to tie economic issues to security concerns while leveraging frozen Russian assets. These moves, he claimed, had done little to shift Moscow’s position.

The criticisms highlight a growing divide between U.S. intentions and European expectations. With Russia showing no flexibility, the stalemate raises questions about future negotiations. Analysts now stress the need for a clearer, more unified approach if diplomatic efforts are to regain credibility.
