Two individuals suspected of auto theft were observed on a Klautour, leading to a police alert that eventually resulted in their capture.
In an unexpected turn of events, two brothers from Hagen found themselves in the hands of the police early Sunday morning. The incident occurred at 2:20 AM, at a café on Körnerstraße, where the duo was attempting to steal a Mercedes Vito.
The Mercedes Vito in question is a vehicle for sale at a used car dealership on the same street. The brothers, who were wearing dark clothing, were seen tampering with the car by a witness, a 39-year-old local.
The witness, who intervened in the situation, held onto one of the thieves seated in the passenger seat. Their actions alerted a passing police patrol to the incident, leading to the apprehension of the thieves.
The police officers were able to apprehend the thief in the driver's seat first, followed by the other brother. Both were temporarily arrested and the Mercedes Vito was secured for evidence and investigation.
However, the thieves claimed they did not intend to steal the car, but wanted to record video footage of the interior. Regardless, a report for attempted motor vehicle theft was filed.
The ages of the thieves are 17 and 18, and they have not been identified beyond being two individuals. The café where the witness observed the car thieves is located on Körnerstraße, adding another layer to the unfolding drama.
The affected vehicle is now being examined by the authorities as they continue their investigation into the incident. The community is reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the local police.
