Two businesses in Cologne-Mülheim are reported to have been burglarized by a suspected thief.
Failed Business Robberies on Frankfurter Straße: Suspect Arrested and Jailed
In a series of unexpected events, a 31-year-old suspect was arrested and subsequently jailed following two unsuccessful business robberies on Frankfurter Straße in Mülheim.
The first incident occurred around 11 am, where the suspect threatened a 34-year-old employee of an electronics store. The suspect demanded the day's earnings, but left empty-handed when the employee refused and alerted the police.
Just a few hours later, the same suspect attempted a robbery at a neighboring household goods store. This time, the suspect threatened the owner, a 37-year-old, but unsuccessfully demanded cash and fled empty-handed towards Wiener Platz.
Officers used private camera recordings to identify and locate the suspect near the scene. The suspect was filmed during both business robbery attempts, providing crucial evidence for the investigation.
Despite the lack of public information, it was confirmed that the 31-year-old suspect was temporarily arrested on Saturday morning (2nd August) in the Mülheim district. The arrest was made in connection with these two failed robberies.
On Sunday (3rd August), a judge reviewed the case and the suspect was sent to jail. The details of the suspect's identity have not been disclosed as per the available sources.
This incident serves as a reminder for businesses and their employees to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities to the authorities. The Mülheim police department encourages everyone to cooperate in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
