Two $1M Powerball tickets and a $13.9M jackpot stun New York over the holidays

Two $1 million Powerball tickets were sold in New York over the holidays. One came from a gas station in Lindenhurst, while the other was bought at Smiley’s Stop N Shop in Sidney, Delaware County. Meanwhile, an anonymous player in Hicksville scooped a $13.9 million New York LOTTO jackpot on Christmas Eve.

The $13.9 million winning ticket was purchased at Lovely Cards and Gifts in Hicksville, Nassau County. The store has since gained a reputation as a lucky spot for lottery players. The winning numbers for the December 24 draw were 4, 11, 23, 38, 41, 49, and the bonus number 26.

The two $1 million Powerball tickets were sold at different locations. One was bought at Ultra gas station in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County. The other came from Smiley’s Stop N Shop in Sidney, Delaware County. Both winners have one year to claim their prizes. While the odds of winning a major jackpot remain extremely low, these recent wins show that big payouts are still possible. Lottery officials remind players that games like these can offer life-changing opportunities—though the chances of success are rare.

The anonymous Hicksville winner has yet to come forward. The two $1 million Powerball tickets must be claimed within a year. For now, the small businesses that sold the winning tickets are enjoying their newfound reputation as lucky locations.
