Twitch Makes Rare Exception for Rollbit Gambling Sponsorship at CS Budapest Major

Twitch is easing its strict rules on crypto gambling content for an upcoming esports event. The platform has long banned streams featuring unregulated crypto casinos, but a major tournament sponsorship has led to a rare exception. This change applies only to the Counter-Strike StarLadder Budapest Major, where Rollbit is the official betting partner.

Twitch first banned streams of unregulated crypto gambling in October 2022. The policy, enforced by its Trust and Safety team, prohibited creators from showing gameplay or sharing affiliate links for sites offering roulette, dice games, or slots.

The new exception comes as Rollbit sponsors the StarLadder Budapest Major, a Counter-Strike tournament with a $1.25 million top prize. Twitch will permit physical Rollbit branding to appear on streams—but with strict limits. Streamers cannot mention the brand verbally, run commercials, or display active gambling gameplay. This adjustment has sparked discussion about whether creators could now show crypto gambling logos in their backgrounds. However, Twitch’s rules still block verbal promotions or direct affiliate links.

The temporary relaxation of Twitch’s policy applies only to this tournament. Rollbit’s sponsorship remains restricted to visual branding, with no spoken references or gambling demonstrations allowed. The move highlights how major esports partnerships can influence platform rules, even in tightly controlled areas like crypto gambling.
