Twilight Cinema continues to thrive in its annual run
In the heart of Guernsey, the picturesque Castle Cornet played host to this year's Twilight Cinema, and it was a resounding success. With over 2,000 attendees, the event saw 10 of its showings sell out, making it one of the most popular editions yet.
Helen Glencross, Head of Heritage Services, expressed her satisfaction with the turnout, particularly noting the presence of many families and young people. She described this year's Twilight Cinema as the best yet.
The event followed the same format as last year, with an early, family-friendly showing at 5pm, followed by a film for adults at 7pm. Some of the family-friendly options that proved popular included 'A Minecraft Movie' and 'Encanto', which sold out within days. For the adult audience, 'Gladiator', 'Top Gun', and the opening night's showing of 'The Breakfast Club' were among the sell-out hits. 'Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy' also drew a large crowd at the 7pm showing.
The relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere, coupled with the glorious sunsets, added to the charm of the event. Castle Cornet was showcased at its best, providing a stunning backdrop for the cinema screen.
Helen Glencross took the opportunity to thank the States of Guernsey marketing team, Beau Sejour Leisure Centre, and Guernsey Museums visitor services team for their contributions to the event's success. Twilight Cinema is considered a much-loved highlight in Guernsey's summer calendar, and its return next August is eagerly anticipated, with dates to be announced in spring 2026.
While there is no information available on who announced the return of Twilight Cinema in 2026, one thing is certain: the event will continue to be a cherished part of Guernsey's summer evenings for years to come.
