South Korea and Turkmenistan have taken a significant step forward in their partnership, as leaders from both countries agreed to expand cooperation in various sectors. The phone call between South Korean President Lee Jae Myung and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedow on Friday marked the first conversation between the two leaders.

President Lee Jae Myung expressed his gratitude to President Berdimuhamedow for assisting South Korean nationals in evacuating from Iran via Turkmenistan in June, an action that took place amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. The leaders also discussed the expansion of cooperation between health and digital technology centres.

The Turkmen President's call for joint efforts and wider cooperation is a response to President Lee Jae Myung's call for further strengthening of relations between South Korea and Turkmenistan. The partnership between the two countries was first established in 2008 and has seen continued growth and development.

President Berdimuhamedow also called for the expansion of cooperation between South Korea and Turkmenistan to a wider range of areas, specifically mentioning the energy and plant industry sectors. This broader scope of collaboration indicates a commitment from both sides to foster stronger relations, not just with each other, but also with other Central Asian countries.

Both leaders agreed to closely cooperate on the South Korea-Central Asia summit scheduled for next year. This agreement suggests a deepening of the partnership between South Korea and Turkmenistan, and a commitment from both sides to work together with other Central Asian countries.

President Lee Jae Myung noted the advancement of bilateral ties since the establishment of the partnership. The Turkmen President's call for cooperation with the Central Asian region is a positive indication of the continued growth and development of the South Korea-Turkmenistan partnership.

The conversation between the two leaders focused on further strengthening the cooperation between the two countries. Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung provided a written briefing on the phone call, detailing the discussions and agreements reached.

This latest development in the South Korea-Turkmenistan partnership is a significant step towards strengthening relations between the two countries and fostering closer ties with other Central Asian nations. The agreement to expand cooperation in various sectors and collaborate on the South Korea-Central Asia summit indicates a bright future for the partnership between South Korea and Turkmenistan.
