In a recent analysis, it was revealed that for the first time worldwide, mobile devices accounted for over 60% of all web traffic, a significant milestone in internet history. This shift was particularly noticeable in Turkey (Türkiye), where mobile devices accounted for 76.8% of the country's web traffic in July.

The most popular browser globally during this period was Chrome, with 68% of usage, followed by Safari with 16% and Microsoft Edge with 5%. In Turkey, the usage patterns were slightly different, with mobile devices dominating the scene.

The turning point in mobile internet access was in 2016, when mobile devices exceeded 50% of web traffic for the first time, surpassing desktop computers. Since then, the share of laptops has dropped to 40% of web traffic, while tablets make up only 1.2%. Concurrently, the use of mobile devices in Turkey for daily online activity has surpassed that of traditional computers.

This trend is not unique to Turkey. In countries such as India, Brazil, and Indonesia, mobile traffic accounts for more than 60 percent of total web traffic, indicating a global shift towards mobile internet usage.

It's important to note that no specific information about the global average was provided, nor was there any data on other countries' mobile internet adoption rates or other browsers' usage. However, the trend towards mobile usage is clear and undeniable.

The rise of mobile internet usage has significant implications for businesses and individuals alike. It's crucial for businesses to adapt their online strategies to cater to the growing mobile audience, ensuring their websites are mobile-friendly and optimised for various devices.

As we move forward, it will be interesting to see how this trend continues to evolve and what new challenges and opportunities it presents. For now, it's clear that mobile devices are here to stay, and they are shaping the way we access and interact with the internet.
