Tulalip Resort Casino Undergoing Major Expansion to Celebrate 20th Anniversary
Washington's Tulalip Resort Casino, about 45 miles north of downtown Seattle, is undergoing its second major expansion and renovation.
The Tulalip Tribes of Washington opened its namesake casino in 2003 at a cost of $78 million. Since then, the resort has advanced the tribeโs economic sovereignty.
The Native American community this week announced plans to significantly expand the property, adding 70,250 square feet of floor space and renovating 192,000 square feet of gaming space.
"The expansion and renovation of Tulalip Resort Casino will set a new standard for quality and excellence at casino resorts throughout the Pacific Northwest," said Marci Fryberg, president and chief operating officer of the Tulalip Gaming Organization, a Tribe-controlled subsidiary.
โThis project is an example of our continued commitment to providing guests with all the comforts, amenities and services they expect from a world-class resort,โ Freiberg added.
Tulalip Resort Casino currently houses a 12-story, 370-room hotel and spa. The casino features 2,400 slot machines, 37 gaming tables, a bingo room and DraftKings Sportsbook.
Anniversary Project
The Tulalip Tribe of Washington is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Tulalip Resort Casino with an expansion and renovation.
The project will include several new indoor and outdoor features and improvements, including a planetarium-style domed ceiling installed above the casino's center bar, the tribe said. The tribe did not provide further project details or what will take up additional space. The budget has not been released either.
The tribe began a $15 million renovation of the casino resort in 2016, which included updating hotel rooms. The project also created five suites but did not expand the resort's footprint. This will do.
"If you want it all, the extensive expansion and renovation will include several new interior and exterior improvements. Completion is expected in late 2025," a release from the tribe states.
Tulalip Resort Casino is a AAA Four Diamond property. This award is specifically awarded to hotels with "high-end style, complete facilities and considerate service". The casino has received the AAA Four Diamond Award every year since 2009.
The Tribal Resort was also named to luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler's Gold List, which ranks the most luxurious hotels.
Smoking Free Game
A big plus for many players at Tulalip Resort Casino is that the gaming floors are completely Smoking Free.
The Tulalip Tribe in Washington announced in November 2020 that its casinos would permanently ban smoking during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to cigarettes and cigars, e-cigarettes and e-cigarettes are also prohibited anywhere except on outdoor smoking patios.
In addition to the Tulalip Resort Casino, the tribe also owns and operates Quelceda Creek Casino and Tulalip Bingo and Slots.
Quil Ceda offers 1,500 slot machines, 16 table games and DraftKings sportsbook. Tulalip Bingo & Slots is a Game Room with 230 slot machines and a bingo room.
