Trump's health status uncertain as White House remains tight-lipped amidst rampant online speculation
In an interview with USA Today on August 27, Vice President JD Vance spoke about President Donald Trump's health and readiness to assume the presidency. Vance, who expressed readiness to step in if there were a "terrible tragedy," also emphasised Trump's work ethic, stating that he is the last person making phone calls at night and the first person making phone calls in the morning.
The interview came amidst rumours circulating on social media that Trump, who is 79 years old, is dead. However, the White House has yet to comment on these rumours. President Trump has not been seen in public since Tuesday and is not scheduled to make any appearances this weekend.
Despite the rumours, Vance affirmed that Trump is in "incredibly good health" and has "incredible energy." This sentiment was echoed in an earlier statement made by Vance, where he stated that Trump's health was "fit" and dynamic.
It is worth noting that Trump has been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency, a common and not life-threatening vein condition.
Vice President Vance's remarks in the interview were interpreted by some as raising concerns about the president's well-being. However, Vance also stated that while terrible tragedies happen, he feels very confident that President Trump will serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people.
Meanwhile, Matt Groening, the creator of "The Simpsons," made a comment at San Diego Comic-Con last month that Trump's death would be predicted by "The Simpsons" with dancing in the streets, except for President Vance banning dancing.
In a separate development, Trump posted on Truth Social on Friday assuring that all tariffs are still in effect after an appeals court in Washington, DC, ruled that his tariffs were largely unconstitutional.
As the rumours about Trump's health continue to circulate, the White House has yet to provide any official comment. Meanwhile, Vice President Vance's remarks have added fuel to the speculation, even as he reaffirmed his confidence in President Trump's ability to serve out the remainder of his term.
