Trump unveils 10% European tariffs amid Greenland dispute on term anniversary

President Donald Trump marked the first anniversary of his second term with a White House press briefing. He outlined his administration's achievements while announcing new trade measures against European nations. The moves come amid ongoing tensions over Greenland and criticism from key allies.

Trump began by distributing a 31-page document titled 365 Wins in 365 Days. The handout listed policy changes, such as revoking electric car mandates and claiming benefits for workers with 401K plans under his leadership. He remarked, I didn't think we could do it this fast, ahead of his speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The president also revealed a 10% import tax on goods from eight European countries, set to begin in February. The tariffs follow their support for Denmark after his repeated attempts to acquire Greenland. Danish and Greenlandic officials have firmly rejected all US proposals, stating the territory remains part of the Danish kingdom. Diplomatic talks took place, including a mid-February meeting between Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, Greenland's leader Jens-Frederik Nielsen, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen called the tariffs a *mistake* and questioned Trump's reliability. Meanwhile, the president defended his Greenland pursuit and criticised the United Nations. He proposed replacing it with a *Board of Peace*, arguing the UN *just hasn't been very helpful*. Other topics covered included an executive order to revive mental institutions, ICE operations in Minneapolis, and rising grocery prices. Trump also shared a personal story from his youth while discussing the asylum policy.

The new tariffs will take effect next month, escalating trade tensions with Europe. Trump's remarks at Davos are expected to further address US achievements and his vision for global policy. Danish and Greenlandic leaders continue to oppose any US involvement in the territory's sovereignty.
