U.S. President Donald Trump welcomed his Polish counterpart, Karol Nawrocki, to the White House on Wednesday. Nawrocki is currently on his first foreign trip as president, marking a significant milestone in his tenure.

Nawrocki, a nationalist historian and fervent Trump supporter, was joined at the meeting by Polish Defense Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz. The encounter, which included a military air show, was a demonstration of the strong bond between the two nations.

The meeting came amidst the backdrop of the war in Ukraine, with Trump describing it as a "stupid war." Despite this, the talks are expected to focus on efforts to end the conflict. Trump reiterated his support for Poland, stating that "We support Poland at all times."

Trump also offered to increase the U.S. military presence in Poland, saying, "We will send more troops if you want." Warsaw has plans to continue increasing its own military spending within the NATO alliance.

The flyover of F-16 and F-35 planes during Nawrocki's arrival commemorated the death of a Polish fighter pilot, who died last week while preparing for an air show. Nawrocki praised the presence of U.S. soldiers, noting that it was "the first time in history" that Poland welcomed foreign troops with joy.

In addition to discussing military matters, Nawrocki visited the U.S. leader to seek his support during the Polish election campaign. Trump promised reporters that ending the war in Ukraine will happen, but details on how this will be achieved were not disclosed.

The meeting at the White House marked a significant step in the relationship between the U.S. and Poland, with both leaders expressing their commitment to strengthening the alliance and working together to address global challenges.
