Trump Transforms Oval Office with Gold Accents

President Donald Trump has given the Oval Office a makeover, introducing numerous gold accents that reflect his signature style. During an exclusive tour, the public got a glimpse of the changes, which include gold trinkets, coasters, curtains, and decorations adorning the fireplace and other areas.

The gold accents were personally financed by Trump, although the exact amount spent remains undisclosed. Among the additions are gold coasters bearing his last name and the number 47, and gold trim along the ceiling and doorways. The fireplace mantel, too, has been gilded, with gold details that have changed frequently in arrangement.

Above the fireplace, Trump chose to display a portrait of George Washington in military uniform. The Resolute Desk now boasts a display of flags, while cherubs inside the door frames have been given a golden makeover.

Last month, Trump, together with private donors, announced a $200 million project to build a new 90,000-square-foot ballroom at the White House. This latest redesign of the Oval Office comes as part of broader renovations across the White House grounds.

In March, Trump added gold accents to the 18-foot-6-inch ceiling of the Oval Office. One of the most notable additions, however, is a copy of the Declaration of Independence, usually housed at the National Archives, which now takes pride of place in the room.

In contrast, former President Joe Biden opted for a more traditional look, choosing a portrait of Franklin Delano Roosevelt above the fireplace, accompanied by portraits of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Alexander Hamilton, and Thomas Jefferson.

The gold details added to the Oval Office were part of a redesign in a rococo style, although specific costs and who paid for them are not mentioned in the available information. The high-quality gold used in the renovations, however, was not detailed in terms of its sourcing.

During meetings with global leaders regarding the war in Ukraine, the gold details were on display, offering a glimpse of the opulent changes made to the Oval Office under Trump's tenure.
