Trump dismisses health doubts in assertive statement following speculations about hidden health issues
In a recent development, former President Donald Trump has addressed speculation surrounding his health, denying rumours and conspiracy theories about his wellbeing. The former President, who is currently 79 years old, posted a defiant response on his Truth Social platform on Monday, stating, "I have never felt better" and calling the reports "fake news."
The speculation about Trump's health has been exacerbated by images showing dark bruises on his hands and swollen ankles. However, his physician, Dr. Sean Barbabella, has previously stated that the condition causing the swelling in Trump's lower legs is a benign and common condition in elderly people, known as chronic venous insufficiency. This condition, which can cause mild swelling, is often managed through lifestyle changes such as weight loss, regular exercise, and the use of compression socks.
In a report, Dr. Barbabella also added that Trump 'remains in excellent health, exhibiting robust cardiac, pulmonary, neurological and general physical function.' This assessment was echoed by Dr. Ronny Jackson, a former doctor and now Congressman, who stated, "President Donald J. Trump is the healthiest president this nation has ever seen."
Jackson, who was also the physician to Barack Obama and worked in the White House Medical Unit under George W. Bush, added that he continues to consult with Trump's current physician and medical team and that Trump is mentally and physically sharper than ever before.
Trump's latest appearance comes just a day after he was captured heading to the golf course with his granddaughter Kai Trump on Saturday. The President was spotted in black pants, a black shirt, and a white USA hat as he entered a black SUV at the White House on Sunday. Trump's motorcade arrived at Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia around 10am on Sunday.
In an April 2025 physical report, Dr. Barbabella stated that Trump was in excellent physical and cognitive health 'and is fully fit.' This assessment was reiterated in July when the White House revealed that President Donald Trump was suffering from 'chronic venous insufficiency,' causing 'mild swelling' in his lower legs.
Rumours about Trump's health went viral on Friday with the hashtag '#whereistrump.' However, Trump himself addressed the speculation triggered by his lower public appearances, emphasizing his good condition in a post on Sunday. He declared Washington DC "crime free" in his post and added, "NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE."
When reached for further comment, the White House re-directed to statements made by Dr. Barbabella and Dr. Ronny Jackson. Dr. Barbabella had previously explained that the bruising on the back of Trump's hand was a result of 'irritation from frequent handshaking and use of aspirin as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention treatment.'
Despite the ongoing speculation, it appears that Trump remains in good health and is continuing his usual activities.
