Triumph of emotions at Iffezheim racetrack

In a poignant and historic moment, Quest The Moon, under the guidance of trainer Sarah Steinberg, secured a triumphant victory in a 2,000-meter race worth 55,000 euros. The race, held at an undisclosed location, marked a significant milestone for Steinberg, her partner Rene Piechulek, and the late horse owner Hans-Gerd Wernicke.

For many years, Quest The Moon ran under the name Stall Salzburg, with Wernicke as its employer. The horse was a cherished favourite of Wernicke, who remained a horse owner until his recent passing at the age of 94. Quest The Moon's tenth victory in the race was a poignant tribute to its late owner.

Steinberg, a renowned horse trainer based in Munich, has been working with Wernicke's stable since 2015. Under her expert tutelage, Quest The Moon has achieved top performance, notably winning prestigious races such as the 70th Preis der Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and the Kronimus – Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft.

In the race, Rene Piechulek and Andrasch Starke had a decisive victory, with Piechulek riding Quest The Moon to the finish line. Andrasch Starke finished second on Arnis Master, while Petit Marin came in third place.

After the emotional victory, Steinberg and Piechulek often looked up to the sky, acknowledging the momentous occasion. This year, they gained their independence from Wernicke's stable, but the late owner's spirit was undoubtedly present as Quest The Moon crossed the finish line.

The victory serves as a testament to Steinberg's dedication and skill as a trainer, as well as a poignant reminder of the legacy left by Hans-Gerd Wernicke. The racing world will undoubtedly remember the indomitable spirit of Quest The Moon, and the lasting impact of its late owner, for years to come.
