Transformed Life of MMA Teacher, Phung
Vietnamese Martial Arts Phenom Lò Thị Phung Continues to Shine
Lò Thị Phung, a rising star in the world of martial arts, has been making waves in the MMA community. The 25-year-old athlete, who is now known as the 'octagon tiger', recently competed in the LION Championship 25 mixed martial arts series on August 16 in Khánh Hòa Province.
Phung's journey in martial arts began in 2017 when she was an outstanding student in stick pushing competition. She won at school, province, and national levels in 2017-19. Master Lê Hoàng Mai, a scout for HCM City's stick pushing team, helped Phung with basic techniques.
Before her career in Mixed Martial Arts, Phung was a teacher. After college, she decided to become a kindergarten teacher in the mountainous Lai Châu Province. However, her life took a remarkable turn when she moved to HCM City in 2022 to pursue a career in martial arts.
Phung's first significant victory came just minutes after learning new techniques when she defeated one of master Lê Hoàng Mai's experienced players. This win marked the beginning of her meteoric rise in the MMA world.
In 2022, Phung won a silver medal in jujitsu at the National Sports Games as a rookie. She then successfully defended her national title and was voted one of the most valuable athletes before taking home a gold medal from the Jujitsu World Cup last year.
Phung's hard work and dedication paid off again when she made an impressive debut in the elite MMA community with a win over Chelsey Cashwell, a LION champion, in a match in 2023.
However, Phung suffered a defeat in the LION Championship 25, preventing her from lifting the women's 52kg category title. Despite this setback, she remains determined to continue to compete in the LION Championship's 52kg, 56kg, and 60kg categories and eventually participate in the ONE Championship, the Asian competition that features top athletes in various weight divisions.
Phung is not only a talented athlete but also a philanthropist. She often takes part in charity activities, offering rice, gifts, books, and presenting scholarships. She also supports poor families and provides rehabilitation training for disabled children through a project called Team 404.
Phung promotes her Thai culture through traditional costumes at all events. Her resilience, both in and out of the ring, has earned her respect and admiration from fans and peers alike. Her coach posted a photo of the two after the defeat and encouraged her to keep trying, a testament to her indomitable spirit.
Lò Thị Phung's story is one of determination, hard work, and the power of dreams. She continues to inspire many with her journey and we look forward to seeing her future accomplishments in the world of martial arts.
