Train Neheim, a firefighting unit, successfully rescues multiple individuals in distress during a training exercise. Drones were employed on the company grounds to aid in the operation.
In an extraordinary turn of events, a joint rescue operation between the Arnsberg main fire station, the Arnsberg fire brigade, and fire brigades from Bruchhausen/Niedereimer, Herdringen, and Holzen was carried out near Neheim.
The operation began when a truck driver heard cries for help from presumed young people on the premises of a company. The area where the missing persons were located proved to be difficult to access, consisting of various construction material piles.
In this challenging situation, the Arnsberg fire department's drone unit played a crucial role in gaining an overview of the scene. The drone was able to locate the first missing person on a construction material pile within a short period, and later, it discovered two more people, one of whom was trapped underneath a conveyor belt.
The rescue of the trapped individual was particularly difficult due to the location, but a team was immediately dispatched for the operation following the drone's discovery. In a coordinated effort, a turntable ladder in combination with a Stokes basket was used to safely extricate the person from under the conveyor belt.
The training exercise, which took place on the premises of the Driller company in Arnsberg on Friday evening, was designed to prepare emergency services for complex situations. The focus was on rescuing several missing persons from difficult terrain, and it seems the operation served as a testament to the effectiveness of such training.
In a separate incident, the Bruchhausen/Niedereimer fire brigade was mentioned as involved alongside Neheim in a residential fire near Neheim.
