Train disruptions in Rostov region due to drone assault
In a series of unexpected events, drone incidents have disrupted train services in the Rostov Oblast region of Russia.
The most recent incident occurred at Kamennaya station, where debris from a drone caused a fire. Fortunately, preliminary reports suggest no injuries were reported as a result of the fire. Passengers on train No.59 were evacuated, and two carriages of the train were damaged due to the incident.
The chaos didn't end there. At around 2:00 today, the contact network at Sal'sk station was disrupted, leading to the suspension of train movement. This disruption follows a tragic incident last night, where a person was killed in a car due to a drone strike in Sal'sk.
The identity of the perpetrator behind the drone attacks in the Sal'sk region remains unconfirmed. However, it's worth noting that these attacks have extended beyond Sal'sk, causing disruptions in Kamenka-Shakhtinsk, Volgodonsk, Bokovsky, Tarasovsky districts, and previously affecting 26 passenger trains.
As a result of these incidents, nine passenger trains of the Federal Passenger Company are currently delayed. A fire in a standing freight train, although not providing further details, further adds to the disruptions.
Authorities are working diligently to restore normal operations and ensure the safety of passengers. We will continue to update you as more information becomes available. Stay safe and keep checking for updates.
