In an unusual turn of events, a shopping cart was placed on platform 7 at Wetzlar train station during the night of Saturday, 26th October to Sunday, 27th October. This action caused a significant incident that disrupted railway traffic and resulted in a delay for a night train.

The Federal Police Inspectorate Kassel has taken the initiative to investigate this incident, and a criminal case has been opened on suspicion of "endangering railway traffic." Technical assistance was provided by the Buderus plant fire brigade. The train hit the shopping cart around 4:40 a.m., causing damage to safety equipment, and the train stopped after about 500 meters. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.

At this time, there is no publicly available information confirming who presumably placed the shopping cart on platform 7 at Wetzlar station during the night of October 26/27 or whether the Federal Police in Kassel have identified the individual.
