The nonprofit sector in New York City is set to be honoured at the annual Nonprofit Trailblazers event, scheduled to take place in Manhattan's Battery Park on Thursday, May 22. This event aims to highlight the vital work of the nonprofit sector in ensuring the well-being of the city's residents.
This year's Trailblazers include key leaders such as Teresa Gonzalez, Lis Goris, Nelson Gutierrez, and Tomas Ramos. These individuals are recognised for their leadership in nonprofit advocacy, senior services, community care, and building resilience in underserved communities like the Bronx. The list of honorees has been researched and written in partnership with journalist Lon Cohen.
The event will feature a variety of speakers, including public officials, advocates, advisers, and others who support the nonprofit sector. Among the confirmed speakers is Caura Washington Richardson from the state Office of Faith and Nonprofit Development Services. Michael Sedillo from the New York City Mayor's Office of Nonprofit Services will also be a keynote speaker at the event. However, it should be noted that Caura Washington Richardson's participation as a keynote speaker at the 2025 event is not yet confirmed.
The focus of the 2025 Nonprofit Trailblazers event will be on promoting mental health, delivering care for people with disabilities, providing training and education, and other similar initiatives. The honorees will be celebrated at an evening gala, providing an opportunity for the sector to come together and celebrate their achievements.
The nonprofit sector encompasses a wide variety of organisations that work tirelessly to improve the lives of New York City's residents. These organisations provide services in areas such as healthcare, education, social services, and environmental conservation. The Nonprofit Trailblazers event serves as a testament to their dedication and the impact they have on the city.
The 2025 Nonprofit Trailblazers event promises to be a memorable occasion, showcasing the incredible work of the nonprofit sector in New York City. It is a chance to recognise and celebrate the key leaders who are driving positive change in the city, and to reaffirm the sector's commitment to ensuring the well-being of all New Yorkers.
