Tragic house blaze claims life of local woman
In the quiet town of Sandhausen, Rhein-Neckar district, a tragic incident unfolded in the early hours of the morning. A fire broke out at a multi-family home, resulting in a fatal casualty and causing an estimated €500,000 in damage.
According to the Heidelberg criminal police, who are currently investigating the cause of the fire, the incident started on the top floor of the building. Despite immediate first aid measures, an 81-year-old woman succumbed to severe burn injuries.
The other residents of the multi-family home were fortunate to leave the building unharmed. Firefighters are still working tirelessly to extinguish the remaining flames, and as of the morning, the incident remains ongoing.
The financial damage from the fire is substantial, with estimates putting it at around half a million euros. The safety of the other residents does not appear to have been compromised, as they were able to evacuate the building successfully in the earlier incident.
The police reported the incident in the morning, and the location of the incident, the multi-family home, remains the same as in the earlier incident. The exact cause of the fire remains unspecified at this time.
Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time. More information will be released as the investigation progresses.
