Tragedy strikes: 235 children go missing during a concert in Karaganda
In Independence Square, Karaganda, a celebration honoring Constitution Day and Miner's Day drew approximately 120,000 people. The event, filled with a massive stage, star performances, and a festive atmosphere, was a spectacle to behold. However, amidst the excitement, some tense moments arose, as children aged 5 to 15 were easily lost in the crowd.
Despite these challenges, the event concluded peacefully, thanks in part to the efforts of over a thousand police officers and 300 National Guard servicemen who ensured order throughout the celebration. The head of the press department of the police department in Karaganda, Bauyrzhan Aitpayeva, reported the losses of 235 children during the celebratory concert.
To address this issue, a separate bus was designated for the safety of lost children. These children remained under staff supervision throughout the event, kept safe and warm. When the lost children were found, parents arriving seeking help were emotional with relief.
The total number of children reunited with their parents remains at 235. This heartwarming reunion was made possible through the collaboration between the police and event hosts. Police established communication with the event hosts to announce found children promptly, ensuring a swift resolution for each family.
Child safety was emphasized during the celebration, and it's a relief to know that despite the chaotic moments, the majority of children were able to enjoy the festivities safely. The event featured performances by Irina Kairatovna and Russian singer Zivert, adding to the overall joy of the day.
As the crowd dispersed and the final notes of the performances faded, it was clear that while challenges arose, the spirit of the celebration remained strong. The lost and found children serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of vigilance and community support in times of celebration and beyond.
