Truck Driver Faces Consequences for Drunk Driving on A23 Highway
A 32-year-old truck driver is facing criminal charges after an incident on the A23 highway near Rellingen in the Pinneberg district. The local public prosecutor's office has ordered the retention of a high three-figure security payment from the driver.
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon at the Halstenbek-Krupunder on-ramp heading towards Heide. According to the police, the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the incident. A breath alcohol test on the driver showed a preliminary value of over 1.8 per mille. A drug test for THC was also positive.
The police found the driver apparently asleep in his 40-tonner, parked on the acceleration lane of the A23. A tow truck removed the truck from the highway, and the A7 highway was subject to a full closure, causing long waiting times.
The driver admitted to taking a break, but the police have initiated a criminal investigation against him. The prosecuting party in the case is the local public prosecutor's office. The police have also ordered a blood sample from the driver.

It is important for all road users to take responsibility for their actions and to prioritise safety on the roads. The consequences of such actions can be serious, and it is crucial that drivers are aware of the risks and make responsible choices.
