Traffic Mishap on Brandenbaumer Landstraße, Lübeck/St Gertrud: Suspect Escapes Scene, Later Surrenders to Police

On September 4, 2025, a collision occurred between two vehicles in Lübeck's Brandenbaumer Landstraße. The incident involved a BMW city-bound and an Audi attempting to turn left.

The driver of the Audi, a 34-year-old German from Lübeck, fled the scene on foot after the collision. However, he later surrendered to the police. According to investigations by the Polizeidirektion Lübeck (Lübeck Police Department), the suspected driver is now under investigation for multiple offenses.

In addition to the collision, the suspected driver is accused of leaving the scene of an accident without permission, forgery of documents, and endangering road traffic due to alcohol consumption. The Audi was also found to be displaying false license plates.

The driver of the BMW was lightly injured and taken to the hospital. Both vehicles involved in the collision were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The total damage from the collision is estimated at approximately 28,400 euros.

Other traffic offenses are also being investigated against the suspected driver. A blood sample was taken from the suspected driver for further analysis.

Another vehicle was damaged by scattered vehicle parts due to the collision. The driver of the Audi exited the vehicle through a window and ran towards Kaufhof after the collision.
