Traffic mishap on 57 Neuss-Süd highway: Vehicle rolls over, lands on its roof; Three individuals sustain injuries in a severe road accident
On Thursday, August 28, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on the A57 towards Nimwegen at around 18:00. The incident involved a Mercedes and a Citroen, and took place near the Neuss-Süd junction.
According to the Düsseldorf Police, the accident happened as a result of a driving error while overtaking. The Mercedes, driven by a 47-year-old man from Cologne, moved from the right to the middle lane, collided with a concrete barrier, and spun into the Citroen. The Citroen, occupied by three Polish men aged 20, 49, and 24, overturned and landed on its roof.
The driver of the Citroen, a 20-year-old man, was seriously injured, while his two passengers sustained light injuries. The police officers who attended the scene were from the Autobahnpolizei (highway police), specifically the Autobahnpolizei handling the case at the Neuss-Süd junction.
Traffic was rerouted over the side and right lanes past the accident site, and the area was closed for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes. All lanes were reopened at around 20:45.
