Traffic and parking top residents' biggest concerns in new survey

Traffic congestion, cleanliness and the state of the road network are the main problems facing citizens, according to a nationwide survey on local government conducted by Opinion Poll from March 12-17.

Traffic and parking ranked highest at 33.5%, followed by cleanliness at 32% and the road network at 30%. Respondents identified financial constraints, bureaucracy and a lack of planning as key factors limiting municipal effectiveness.

The findings also showed that nearly half of respondents expressed concern about water scarcity, while a majority said they regularly participate in recycling.

Opinion Poll's research director said the findings highlight the dominance of everyday infrastructure issues, with development, unemployment, healthcare and crime ranking significantly lower.

The survey also found widespread dissatisfaction with transparency and social services, while many respondents said they are unsure where to turn to address local problems.
