Oettinger accepts initiative for labor union intervention - Trade Union proposes mediation, which Oettinger embraces for resolution

In the heart of Bavaria, one of Germany's most renowned breweries, Oettinger, finds itself in a challenging situation. The company, with a workforce of 880 employees across four production sites nationwide, is grappling with declining sales and anticipates further shrinkage, much like many other German breweries.

The union, NGG, has been vocal about its concerns, with Secretary Fouad Laghmouch threatening further labour actions if progress is not made by the end of the week. The union has proposed voluntary mediation to the management, a move aimed at resolving the ongoing wage dispute.

The proposed mediator on behalf of the NGG is Harald Schultz, a name put forward on August 15, 2023. However, no specific mediator for the negotiations has been mentioned from the management's side.

The union's discontentment has led to protests at Oettinger's headquarters in Oettingen, as well as at other locations. The protesters are demanding a fair wage agreement, a matter of significant importance for the employees.

Amidst these developments, Oettinger has announced plans to close its branch brewery in Braunschweig next year. The news has added to the uncertainty surrounding the company and the future of its employees.

As the situation unfolds, both parties are under pressure to find a resolution that ensures the well-being of the workforce and the continued success of the brewery. The coming days are crucial for Oettinger and its employees, as they await the outcome of the negotiations.
