In the picturesque town of Pebble Beach, California, the 2025 edition of the prestigious Concours d'Elegance saw a remarkable event unfold. The 1924 Hispano-Suiza H6C Nieuport-Astra Torpedo, fondly known as the "Tulipwood" Torpedo, took home the coveted Best of Show award.

This stunning piece of automotive history is owned by Penny and Lee Anderson Sr. from Naples, Florida. The "Tulipwood" Torpedo, originally owned by aviator and racer AndrΓ© Dubonnet, boasts an illustrious past. It was first built by the aeronautic outfit Nieuport-Astra and is the only original example known to still exist.

In 1929, this Hispano-Suiza took seventh place at the Indy 500. Fast forward to 2022, it was part of Monterey Car Week, where it crossed the auction block through RM Sotheby's for a staggering $9.245 million.

Another standout at the Concours d'Elegance was the 1930 Cadillac 452 Murphy Convertible Sedan. Known for being one of the first cars with Cadillac's V-16 engine, this classic beauty was originally owned by Charles S. Howard Jr., whose father was a wealthy car dealer and racehorse breeder, and the owner of Seabiscuit. The 452 Murphy Convertible Sedan was restored in the mid-1990s and made its debut at Pebble Beach for the first time in 1997.

Invicta, a British automaker known for its light but punchy cars, also had a representation at the event. The S Type, considered Invicta's finest creation, was there. This particular S Type was produced in 1930, the year the car debuted at the London Motor Show. Interestingly, this Invicta was raced in 1931 and 1932 and was owned then by the India Tyre Company.

The 1927 Delage Type 15 S8 Grand Prix, powered by a high-revving V-8, was another highlight. Based on a previous design powered by a 2.0-liter V-12, this Delage showcased the evolution of automotive engineering during that era.

Each of these vehicles, with their unique histories and exceptional craftsmanship, added a touch of elegance and nostalgia to the 2025 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. These classic cars serve as a testament to the ingenuity and passion of their creators and the enduring allure of automotive history.
