Tony Hawk's Legendary 1999 X Games Skateboard Fetches $1.152 Million at Auction

Tony Hawk's iconic 1999 X Games skateboard has sold for a record-breaking $1.152 million at auction. The board, used during his legendary '900' trick, was part of a wider sale of his personal memorabilia. Julien's Auctions called the result a historic moment for skateboarding culture and collectors alike. The auction featured items from Hawk's career, including the Falcon 2 skateboard he rode to victory in the 1999 X Games 'Vert Best Trick' and 'Vert Doubles' events. Alongside the board, his helmet, sneakers, and knee pads from the same competition fetched $115,200, $64,000, and $57,600 respectively.

Other rare pieces included a 1982 Powell-Peralta Signature Pro Model deck, which sold for $57,600, and a 1982 'House Fire Survived' deck that went for $51,200. Earlier in the event, Hawk's 1998 X Games gold medal-winning deck exceeded expectations, selling for $19,200, while a signed 'Pro Skater' video game prototype reached $12,800.

Hawk chose to auction his collection to support The Skatepark Project, a charity that has helped build over 700 skate parks worldwide. The sale also included his 1999 X Games Bronze Medal, which sold for $8,960. The auction set new benchmarks for skateboarding memorabilia, with Hawk's '900' skateboard becoming the most valuable ever sold. All proceeds will go toward expanding skateboarding facilities globally through The Skatepark Project. The event marked a significant moment for both collectors and the sport's legacy.
