The city of Hanau is gearing up for an exciting change as the Stadthof, a historic building, prepares to reopen its doors on March 13th. According to Mayor Claus Kaminsky, this reopening is a testament to the typical pace and determination of Hanau.
Four of the five floors of the Stadthof are planned to reopen this year, each offering a unique blend of retail, encounter, culture, and gastronomy.
On the first floor, a large exhibition by a renowned provider will serve as interim use. The second floor will be the home of the Brothers Grimm Professional Academy Hanau (BGPA). The BGPA will provide a space for students to further their education in the arts and humanities.
The third floor, meanwhile, will be the site of the German Inventors' Association, who have been confirmed as the first regular user of the Freiraum. The Freiraum and the Agora, two areas created as part of the transformation, will offer associations and institutions the opportunity to present themselves, their projects, and ideas.
The Agora and the Freiraum will not only serve as spaces for exhibitions but also as platforms for dialogue and interaction. They aim to foster a vibrant and dynamic community within the Stadthof.
The basement of the Stadthof will feature entertainment offerings, while the former Kaufhof will offer a colourful mix of retail, encounter, culture, and gastronomy. The transformation of the Kaufhof includes the creation of an open and visible atelier offering continuous services such as clothing alterations, repairs, personalization, sneaker cleaning, and shoe repair. This is part of the Breuninger Haus München.
As the construction atmosphere at the Stadthof persists until the opening day, visitors can look forward to a transformed Stadthof with a new mix of offerings, ranging from toys to fashion to Asian culture. By the opening day, the Stadthof will truly embody the motto "My Hof".
