Three Powerball players in Virginia clinched sizable winnings with tickets worth $50,000 each from Saturday's drawing.

The Powerball game, a multi-state lottery, held its latest drawing on Saturday, but the jackpot of $1.1 billion eluded players once again. No ticket in Virginia or anywhere else managed to match all six numbers.

However, the Virginia Lottery, which administers the Powerball game in the state, did announce that three tickets in the state won $50,000 each. These lucky winners purchased their tickets at Publix on South Laburnum Avenue in Henrico, Kroger on Hicks Road in North Chesterfield, and 7-Eleven on Deep Creek Boulevard in Portsmouth.

The three $50,000 winners hail from New York, Florida, and California, with their tickets purchased at convenience stores in their respective states.

Despite the jackpot not being won, the Virginia Lottery reported that a total of 128,405 tickets in Virginia won prizes in the Saturday Powerball drawing.

The Powerball jackpot is a coveted prize, with the odds of matching all six numbers to win it standing at 1 in 292,201,338. The odds of winning any prize in the Powerball drawing are more favourable at 1 in 25.

Three tickets did manage to match four of the first five winning numbers plus the Powerball number, but they fell short of the jackpot.

The Powerball drawings take place at 10:59 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. The next Powerball drawing will take place on Monday, with the jackpot estimated to be $1.1 billion.
