Thousands of Gamers Gather for Gamescom Debut: Unveiling of New Video Games for 5000 Enthusiasts
Gamescom 2022 Kicks Off in Cologne with Exciting New Releases
The annual Gamescom trade fair, one of the world's largest events for interactive games and entertainment, has officially begun in Cologne, Germany. Thousands of fans are flocking to the exhibition halls to try out new games and catch a glimpse of upcoming releases.
This year, more than 1,500 exhibitors are present, a record number, including major studios such as Avalanche Studios, Crytek, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, and others. Among the highly anticipated games showcased are "Call of Duty - Black Ops 7" and "Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight."
"Call of Duty - Black Ops 7" promises an exhilarating experience, with a team of up to four players battling in an apocalyptic future against both physical enemies and psychological terror. The game promises to be a thrilling mix of action and strategy, as players navigate a world torn apart by chaos.
"Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight," on the other hand, offers a more light-hearted experience. The game features comical fights and the iconic Lego humour that fans have come to love.
The previews are designed to generate interest and increase purchasing readiness among fans. Eefje Depoortere, known as Sjokz in the gaming and e-sports scene, expressed her excitement for the event, stating, "We're here to play - and it's just getting started."
Amazon Prime presented the second season of the post-apocalyptic action series "Fallout" during the opening show. The horror classic "Resident Evil" is also being remade as "Resident Evil - Requiem," focusing on survival against the undead.
"World of Warcraft - Midnight" is another game that caught the attention of attendees. The game is about an end-time battle between elves and brutal creatures.
Ron Gilbert, known for his success with "Monkey Island" in the 90s, presented "Death by Scrolling." This retro-style game might make players feel like they're gaming 30 years ago.
Streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, and Paramount+ are also present at the event, showcasing their latest offerings in the gaming world.
The federal research minister responsible for the industry, Dorothee Bรคr (CSU), and the NRW minister president, Hendrik Wรผst (CDU), are among the guests this year. Geoff Keighley, the host of the opening show, promoted the gaming industry, stating that its games are becoming visually better due to new technology.
Last year, Gamescom had 335,000 visitors. With the excitement surrounding this year's event, it's expected that the number will surpass that mark. The Gamescom trade fair continues until Sunday, providing fans with four days of non-stop gaming action.
