Thorough Guidance for a Foreign Destination: Priceless Insights Gleaned from Online Lessons
The Consumer Center Rhineland-Palatinate and the European Consumer Centre (ECC) Germany are hosting a digital lecture series titled "Focus Week Goals - New Ways. After School" to help young people and parents prepare for a stay abroad.
The series, scheduled for May 2025, aims to inform those planning a stay abroad this year, with a focus on first-time travellers who may encounter new languages, cultures, and customs. Mareike Boguet, a lawyer at the ECC Germany, will provide helpful tips on planning and organizing a stay abroad in two online lectures.
The first lecture, titled "Going abroad. How to prepare?", is scheduled for May 12, 2025, from 5 pm to 6 pm. Registration for this lecture can be done here. The lecture series will address questions such as required administrative tasks, recommended insurances, considerations for finding accommodation, foreign accounts, and child benefit entitlement.
Additional information material includes a YouTube video titled "Going abroad", an ECC brochure titled "Moving to an EU country" (PDF), and information on clarifying finances and insurance in time on the ECC website.
Individual questions can be asked via live chat during the lectures.
The second lecture of the series is scheduled for Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 2 pm to 3 pm. Topics related to the lecture series include collecting intercultural experiences with a voluntary service abroad, facts about the 30-year Erasmus program, and women traveling independently.
Participation in the lecture series is free. A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and sound output is required for participation.
Our website, a German-language service and news portal, provides information about life and work abroad. For any queries, you can contact us at [email protected].
