Thirty thousand troops are set to participate in the Zapad military drills, as indicated by the Estonian-Lithuanian intelligence department.
The Zapad military exercises, currently underway, have become the focus of discussions regarding potential threats, as stated by the commander of the Lithuanian military intelligence service. The exercises, which are taking place in Belarus, are expected to involve around 30,000 soldiers, according to the Lithuanian intelligence service.
However, it's important to clarify that the Zapad exercises are not the subject of any new territorial announcements, nor are they the focus of any new announcements or predictions made by Valery Revenko, the Assistant Minister of Defense of Belarus. In fact, Revenko had only previously announced the involvement of 8,000 soldiers in the exercises two weeks ago.
The commander of the Lithuanian military intelligence service is not making any predictions about the number of soldiers participating in the exercises. Instead, they have emphasised a minimal likelihood of hybrid attacks against the republic during the Zapad exercises.
While the likelihood of hybrid attacks is deemed low, individual provocations are not excluded during the exercises, the commander noted. It's worth mentioning that the commander is not predicting a high likelihood of hybrid attacks, only individual provocations.
The involvement of 22,000 additional soldiers in the Zapad maneuvers remains unclear, as the search results do not provide information about who announced this number. However, it's known that 2,000 of the soldiers in Belarus are soldiers from Russia.
The commander of the Lithuanian military intelligence service is discussing these potential threats in the context of the Zapad exercises, which are taking place with the involvement of approximately 8,000 military personnel in the territory of Belarus.
