Participate in a TikTok Challenge - Thirteen-year-old girl takes own life while being recorded.

On the night of April 27, this girl was discovered unconscious in her room by her family. A doctor who was summoned could only conclude that she was dead.

Her parents uncovered several videos on the girl's phone that indicated the blackout challenge. The 13-year-old had strangled herself with a belt. It seems that she participated in this challenge alone, as normally there would be another person present to intervene in case of danger. However, help arrived too late, and she passed away while her phone captured the entirety of the event.

The public prosecutor's office in Kassel acknowledged the death investigation. There was no evidence pointing to any wrongdoing on her part.

This horrific incident is not the first victim of this harmful online trend. In recent months, multiple participants worldwide have lost their lives due to the challenge. A boy from the United Kingdom slipped into a coma and later died. In Lingen, Lower Saxony, students discovered strangled during their playtime, but fortunately they survived.

The Chinese corporation "ByteDance", which operates TikTok, has faced continuous criticism for such challenges. They are also charged with insufficient protection for minors. The EU commenced proceedings against the organization in February.
