Thief nabbed in the act of purse snatching
Early Sunday morning, at around 5:35 AM, the Federal Police in Berlin made two arrests at Ahrensfelde station. The arrests were made on line 7 of the S-Bahn train.
The suspects were identified as two German nationals, a 38-year-old and a 39-year-old, who were temporarily detained and questioned by the officers. During a search of the suspects, three phones were found.
The older man was found with a ready-to-use folding knife and a substance similar to a narcotic. The 39-year-old is also suspected of embezzlement and illegal possession of narcotics.
Contrary to some reports, there is no direct information in the search results specifying a connection between the two individuals arrested. Each incident involved separate offenses, with one individual arrested for weapons possession and aggressive behavior, and the other for alleged pickpocketing.
Despite the denial of remand in custody by the public prosecutor's office, the Federal Police released the suspects after completing the police measures.
The 46-year-old Iraqi, who had his phone stolen, had it returned to him by the officers.
The suspects are currently being investigated for aggravated theft, theft with weapons, and theft.
