The World Series of Poker Unveils Full Schedule of Competitions for 2023

At the ongoing PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, poker pros like Adrian Mateos and Isaac Haxton are making waves. Meanwhile, the World Series of Poker (WSOP) is gearing up for its next event. The WSOP recently released the full schedule for this summer's series, with a focus on attracting a record-breaking number of participants.

The WSOP is returning to the Las Vegas Strip from May 30 to July 18. The series is a major attraction for poker players worldwide, but this year sees a unique opportunity. If the total number of Main Event entries surpasses the current record, there's a special prize waiting for one lucky winner.

The WSOP, which will stream all the action on PokerGO, promises a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the winner. If the target number of players is surpassed, the event will include a "Main Event for Life" drawing, granting one lucky participant a $10K entry into the tournament's Main Event for the next 30 years.

The Ultimate Prize

Competing in the WSOP Main Event is a dream for many professional and amateur poker players. With the chance to network with top names in the industry and potentially take them down, the possibility of winning big cash prizes, and the prestige of earning a WSOP bracelet, the Main Event is a highly sought-after opportunity.

In 2022, Norway's Espen Jorstad took home $10 million for winning the Main Event. Previous winners have included celebrities like Ben "Ben86" Spragg and actor Gabe Kaplan.

The WSOP is determined to beat last year's 8,773-entry mark, which was slightly below the 2006 record of 8,773. With the added incentive of a "Main Event for Life" drawing, the series is on track to outdo itself.

Locations and Satellites

The 2023 series will be held at the Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas, the WSOP's Strip home. Games will run round the clock for the entire duration of the series, aiming to exceed the previous year's prize pool of $347.9 million.

GGPoker, the WSOP's satellite poker partner, offers 500 guaranteed seats, with an additional 100 available through its ClubGG.net subscription platform. There will also be a World Series of Poker Global Qualification Weekend (GQW) taking place on May 20 and 21, featuring qualifiers at various poker rooms worldwide.

The prizes include a seat at the Main Event, as well as travel and accommodation coverage. Participating casinos include several established US properties, as well as King's Casino in the Czech Republic, Club Pierre Charron in Paris, France, and others.

Online action is also an option. A total of 112 Main Event seats are available through WSOP.com. The first 10 will be awarded on June 25, with further seats given out daily until July 8.

WSOP Highlights

Several events are scheduled during the WSOP, including Dallas Stars ice hockey team owner Tom Gaglardi's $300 Gladiators of Poker tournament. With a $3 million GTD, it's a brand-new addition to the series.

Regular fixtures like satellites and mystery bounties will also feature, alongside new competitions. Live daily mega-satellites, "Main Event Sprints" and "All-In" satellites are on the schedule.
