"Sin City" may now be known as "Stanley Cup City," as Las Vegas adds yet another achievement to its growing list of professional sports milestones.

The Las Vegas Golden Knights clinched the Stanley Cup last night with a 9-3 victory over the Florida Panthers at T-Mobile Arena, marking their sixth season achieving such a feat. This puts Vegas in a league of its own, as only two other teams have progressed to the conference finals within their first six years, and both did so when the league had fewer teams.

Just five other teams have managed to win the Stanley Cup within their first six years, and most of them played during the "old days."

Las Vegas residents and tourists gathered in and around the sports arena, with 19,058 occupying the indoor space and many more watching the game on a big screen placed in the concourse. This was a chance for locals to relish their hometown team's victory and snatch a souvenir betting slip.

With the Golden Knights' win, the number of people betting on them for the Stanley Cup increased by about 20% in Las Vegas since their arrival six years ago, primarily at T-Mobile Arena.

Despite the Golden Knights becoming the top choice amidst intense betting on this championship night, they faced a temporary loss at the local sports books. "In Nevada, we are writing all Knights money for Game 5," said Jeff Sherman, spokesperson for the Westgate Sports Book.

As the odds increased from -155 to -190, and then reached -210 when it was announced Florida star, Matthew Tkachuk, would miss the game due to an injury, a sense of defeat prevailed. Sherman, however, shared that other jurisdictions, including Colorado, New Jersey, Arizona, Tennessee, Iowa, Ohio, and Maryland, were betting on the Panthers instead.

The celebration that ensued after Stone skated with Lord Stanley's chalice was truly unforgettable. Stone, the captain, scored the opening goal and eventually notched a hat trick, making full use of this once-in-a-lifetime moment.

This victory came just weeks after the Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA championship, adding to the good sports karma in the city.

Although the Las Vegas Raiders (formerly the Oakland Raiders) experienced slippage and ended their third season with a 6-11 record, they have re-established their presence next to the Strip at the Allegiant Stadium.

The next chapter for Las Vegas' sports landscape seems to involve the Oakland A's moving to town. The Nevada Senate recently approved a $380 million public funding bill, paving the way for a long-anticipated new stadium on the Las Vegas Strip. But 29 MLB owners need to approve the move, and there's still a lot of ground to cover.

So far, only one significant hurdle remains. The NBA is the last major professional sports league yet to set up camp in Las Vegas, but it seems only a matter of time before they follow suit. Some sources suggest Las Vegas and Seattle are the two favorite cities to become the home for the next two NBA teams.

High-level talks about expansion are likely to start soon, as soon as the NBA's new media rights deal is sorted. Adam Silver, the Commissioner, expressed interest in expanding during an ESPN show and outlined prospects internationally as well.

Over the years, Savannah has played host to the Vegas Summer League games, where 30 NBA teams participate, transforming the city into an unofficial NBA haven. "It's been a long time since we've expanded," Silver said during the ESPN show, highlighting the league's interest in expansion in the future.

For now, Sin City revels in its latest accolade as the home of the Stanley Cup. The parade commemorating the victory is scheduled for Saturday, allowing their glorious moment to echo throughout the streets of Vegas.

"Golden Knights owner, Bill Foley, aims to create a global franchise. The stadium is packed in Las Vegas, making it difficult for visitors to purchase tickets. Still, he believes they will wear Golden Knights merchandise and return to Shanghai wearing their hats."
