The Berlin Tiergarten Tunnel has been closed towards Moabit following a truck accident that occurred on Monday evening. The truck, attempting to enter a parking garage at the main train station, became wedged in the tunnel due to its clearance height of two meters being too low.

According to reports, the driver was intoxicated, with a breathalyzer test revealing a reading of 2.4 per mil. This level of intoxication, according to the German Central Office for Addiction Issues, can lead to memory and orientation disturbances, and around 2 per mil can cause a state of intoxication.

The man sustained a back injury in the accident and was taken to a hospital. Fortunately, he was later discharged. The truck was reportedly removed from the tunnel by a towing company.

The repair work, which includes assessing the damage to the tunnel technology, is ongoing. No specific timeline for reopening the tunnel towards Moabit has been provided. However, the tunnel entrance on Invalidenstraße towards Kreuzberg has been open since the morning.

The closure of the tunnel is causing traffic disruptions in the area. Alternative routes are being advised for commuters and motorists. The search results do not provide information on which company or person removed the truck from the Tiergarten Tunnel in Berlin.

The repair work may take several hours or even days to complete. The authorities are urging caution and patience as they work to restore normal traffic flow in the area.
