The Residence of the Smurfs and the Poenig Towerhouse

The permanent exhibition on Westphalian carnival can be seen at the MKG in the Teufelsturm. The Foundation Teufelsturm invites visitors to the Karnevalsmuseum on 6th September 2025 from 12 to 13 pm. Due to its historical substance, the Teufelsturm is not barrier-free.
At Gut Rodinghausen, the special exhibition "Dirk Vogel. Perspectives" is displayed on two floors in the historic rooms. The exhibition runs from May 25 to September 21, 2025. The photographer presenting this moving exhibition is Dirk Vogel himself, a photographer from Sauerland. The special exhibition includes a moving photo series of a former museum employee's cancer treatment.
The industrial museum at Gut Rodinghausen houses the current special exhibition "Dirk Vogel. Perspectives", which can be seen until 21st September 2025. All houses (except Gut Rodinghausen) are not barrier-free due to their historical substance. Admission to the Karnevalsmuseum and the permanent exhibition is free, as well as in all houses.
On 6th September 2025, the city museum in Marktplatz 3, 58706 Menden, is open from 9 to 12 am. The "Gut Rodinghausen Apple Festival" takes place on 20th/21st September 2025, 11 to 6 pm. During this event, the special exhibition "Dirk Vogel. Perspectives" can be visited for free.
The "Freeloader House" half-timbered house in An der Stadtmauer 5, 58706 Menden, offers a historical tour on 6th September 2025 from 11 to 12 am. The Freeloader House and the Poeniget Tower will be open for visit on Saturday, 4th October 2025 at their respective opening times. The Poeniget Tower in Turmstraße, 58706 Menden, has a visitor's gallery open from 12 to 13 pm on 6th September 2025, featuring an art installation about the persecution of witches.
Until then, the city museum and Gut Rodinghausen can be visited during their regular opening hours on weekdays. The next opportunity to visit the Karnevalsmuseum in the Teufelsturm is on Saturday, 4th October 2025 at the mentioned opening time. The "Gut Rodinghausen Apple Festival" is not to be missed, with its apple-themed activities and the chance to visit the "Dirk Vogel. Perspectives" exhibition for free.
