In the quiet town of Erftstadt, Rhein-Erft-Kreis, an 87-year-old driver found himself at the centre of a traffic incident on Kurt-Schumacher-Straße, around 12:50 PM.

The unfortunate event began when the driver lost control of his Opel vehicle, initially colliding with a parked car while exiting. The chain reaction continued as the vehicle hit three more parked vehicles, a power box, and a lamppost. A nearby tree, standing at the right side of the road, ultimately stopped the vehicle from causing further damage.

The 87-year-old driver was lightly injured in the accident and was transported to a hospital by an ambulance. Upon arrival of the responding officers, the elderly man was seated in his Opel and was rescued from his vehicle by the fire department.

The Rhein-Erft-Kreis Police have initiated investigations into the cause of the accident. The head of the investigation is the traffic criminal investigation department (Verkehrskommissariat) of the Rhein-Erft district police authority.

During the traffic accident investigation, the patrol officers determined that the driver might no longer have been able to safely operate the vehicle due to his age. As a result, the officers confiscated the driver's license.
